いま、AIやら翻訳アプリなどがでてきて、
『英語を学ぶ必要はないのでは？』
と思ってきている方も増えてきていると思います。本当にそうでしょうか。少なくとも私は友達を作るには絶対に学ぶ必要があると思っていて、仕事のためというよりはむしろ友達をつくるために学びを止めていません。
さて、今回ワールドカップもついに終わってしまいました。日本とブラジルの戦いをみて世界の壁を感じ、さらにはイングランドとアルゼンチンの戦いをみて国家間の因縁の深さというものを感じ、最後にスペインとアルゼンチンの戦いでスーパーマンのメッシでもさすがに10人では勝てないのかと、まぁ、いろいろと考えさせられたワールドカップでした。
さて、本題です。
わたしは英語は聞ければあとはなんとかなる、と考えています。
そして、聞こえなければ、なにも反応ができません。
ということで、わたしがおすすめする英語の勉強はとにかくリスニングを鍛えること。
そしてそのリスニングを鍛えるのに使えるのが興味のある動画をみて、わからないところはそれなりに聞こえた音だけ、ディクテーションしてみる、つまり、ノートに聞こえた音を書いてみる、という方法です。
わからなくても、それなりに書くというのがポイントです。
まずは実践です。
つぎのハリー・ケイン選手のインタビューを30秒分くらいでよいので、わからないなりに聞きながら白紙のノートや何かの裏紙でもいいので書いてみてください。
ちなみに、英検1級の人でもハリー・ケインの英語は聞き取りにくい、とXでのつぶやきがあったので、ハリー・ケイン選手のインタビューに注目してみました。
英検1級の人でも難しいといっているので、100点でなくていいので聞こえる音を拾ってみましょう。
下記がディクテーションの例です。

以上が書き写し例です。聞こえたところだけ書けばいいのです。
確かになかなか難しいです（笑）
でも気にする必要はありません。
このあと、正解のスクリプトをみて『なるほど！』と思えばいいのです。
単語自体は難しいものがほぼないので、自分の耳がいかに英語に慣れていないのか驚愕すると思います。ただ、その驚きが頭へのインプットを強化します。
ということで次がスクリプトをみて修正した例です。何が聴こえなかったのか？なぜ、わからなかったのかをひとつひとつ理屈を理解していくことが重要です。
聞こえなかった場合、主に3つの理由があります。
・英単語がつながるリンキングが聞き取れなかった
・そもそも単語を知らなかった
・Ah..や You know など意味を持たない言葉にまどわされている

What’s hope for a break room?
→Well, it’s heartbreak , I ‘m afraid, Um..
(Well, it‘s ウェッツ＝連結、break, I’mブレイカム＝連結、afraid,um アフレイダム)
How did you some of the Palagonia look back to 1919, five minutes also.
→How do you sum it up, Harry, when you look back at that that 90 95 minutes or so.
(sum it up サミッタップ)

and we just tried to hang on when this uh you know we spoke a lot about that this this campaign about doing the opposite but it’s obviously easier said than done.
（そして、この……ええと、あの、このキャンペーンでは「逆のことをする」ということについてたくさん話し合いましたが、言うは易く行うは難し、というのは明らかですね。＝言い回しを知らなかった）

言い回しも難しい単語が使われているわけではないのでこの機会に覚えておけば次回からニュアンスはつかめると思います。
